Fiction Friday: Review ‘Radiant Shadows’ by Melissa Marr.

Welcome to this week’s Fiction Friday, today I will be reviewing Melissa Marr’s YA paranormal romance, ‘Radiant Shadows’, the fourth book in the Wicked Lovely series.

The synopsis from Goodreads:

Hunger for nourishment.Hunger for touch.Hunger to belong.

Half-human and half-faery, Ani is driven by her hungers.

Those same appetites also attract powerful enemies and uncertain allies, including Devlin. He was created as an assassin and is brother to the faeries’ coolly logical High Queen and to her chaotic twin, the embodiment of War. Devlin wants to keep Ani safe from his sisters, knowing that if he fails, he will be the instrument of Ani’s death.

Ani isn’t one to be guarded while others fight battles for her, though. She has the courage to protect herself and the ability to alter Devlin’s plans–and his life. The two are drawn together, each with reason to fear the other and to fear for one another. But as they grow closer, a larger threat imperils the whole of Faerie. Will saving the faery realm mean losing each other?

Alluring romance, heart-stopping danger, and sinister intrigue combine in the penultimate volume of Melissa Marr’s New York Times bestselling Wicked Lovely series.

My thoughts:

5 out of 5.

This book was all kinds of awesome. I thought I loved the other books in this series but this book blew those books out of the water. We depart from Keenan and Ash in this book, and for that reason I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it, turns out I liked it even better.

This book blew me away, I cannot express how much I loved this book. I want to scream to the world to read this book. Radiant Shadows was thrilling, action packed, breathtaking, imaginative, and had a beautiful love story weaved throughout it. It had an intricately woven plot that made it feel epic, and by the end of the book you understand so much more of this world Marr has created.

Ani is a half mortal-half faerie that has power unlike any of the faeries born before her, making her a target for both the queen of the High Court and War herself. Devlin had disobeyed orders by sparing her life once. When their paths cross again he will do whatever it takes to keep her alive. But he would also do whatever it takes to protect Faerie, so when it becomes imbalanced it is up to him to restore it.
I loved Ani and Devlin and Irial and Rae, and of course, Barry. I loved Gabriel and I loved the hounds. I loved everything. These characters will draw you in and not let you go, taking you on a breathtaking wild ride through their world.

Unlike with Marr’s other books, I was left content as I closed Radiant Shadows. A stand out amongst other faerie books, I highly recommend it. It was truly Awesome.
