Fiction Friday: Upcoming releases I want.

Welcome to this week’s Fiction Friday. I have no review for this week so after sharing the top 5 Australian books I want last Sunday, I thought I would share the top 5 international upcoming releases I am looking forward to.

Note: Some of these are sequels and therefore by default their blurbs might be spoilery, if you haven’t read the first book and don’t want to be spoiled, scroll past.

1. Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas (Throne of Glass book 2).

Throne of Glass was amazing, I absolutely loved it, so I can’t wait to get my hands on this one. It will be released on August 27th according to Goodreads.

crownofmidmight

An assassin’s loyalties are always in doubt.
But her heart never wavers.

After a year of hard labor in the Salt Mines of Endovier, eighteen-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien has won the king’s contest to become the new royal assassin. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown – a secret she hides from even her most intimate confidantes.

Keeping up the deadly charade—while pretending to do the king’s bidding—will test her in frightening new ways, especially when she’s given a task that could jeopardize everything she’s come to care for. And there are far more dangerous forces gathering on the horizon — forces that threaten to destroy her entire world, and will surely force Celaena to make a choice.

Where do the assassin’s loyalties lie, and who is she most willing to fight for?

2. Allegiant by Veronica Roth (Divergent book 3).
I love this series and am dying to read this one. It will be available on October 22nd.

Allegiant

One choice will define you.

What if your whole world was a lie?
What if a single revelation—like a single choice—changed everything?
What if love and loyalty made you do things you never expected?

The faction-based society that Tris Prior once believed in is shattered—fractured by violence and power struggles and scarred by loss and betrayal. So when offered a chance to explore the world past the limits she’s known, Tris is ready. Perhaps beyond the fence, she and Tobias will find a simple new life together, free from complicated lies, tangled loyalties, and painful memories.

But Tris’s new reality is even more alarming than the one she left behind. Old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningless. Explosive new truths change the hearts of those she loves. And once again, Tris must battle to comprehend the complexities of human nature—and of herself—while facing impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice, and love.

Told from a riveting dual perspective, Allegiant, by #1 New York Times best-selling author Veronica Roth, brings the Divergent series to a powerful conclusion while revealing the secrets of the dystopian world that has captivated millions of readers in Divergent and Insurgent.

3. Crush Into You by Katie McGarry.

Katie McGarry is the queen of contemporary, I absolutely loved Pushing the Limits and Dare You To and I just know Crush Into You is going to be a winner. While this is a series, each book can be read as a standalone. It will be available November 26th.

crashintoyou

From acclaimed author Katie McGarry comes an explosive new tale of a good girl with a reckless streak, a street-smart guy with nothing to lose, and a romance forged in the fast lane

The girl with straight As, designer clothes and the perfect life-that’s who people expect Rachel Young to be. So the private-school junior keeps secrets from her wealthy parents and overbearing brothers…and she’s just added two more to the list. One involves racing strangers down dark country roads in her Mustang GT. The other? Seventeen-year-old Isaiah Walker-a guy she has no business even talking to. But when the foster kid with the tattoos and intense gray eyes comes to her rescue, she can’t get him out of her mind.

Isaiah has secrets, too. About where he lives, and how he really feels about Rachel. The last thing he needs is to get tangled up with a rich girl who wants to slum it on the south side for kicks-no matter how angelic she might look.

But when their shared love of street racing puts both their lives in jeopardy, they have six weeks to come up with a way out. Six weeks to discover just how far they’ll go to save each other.

4. The Queens Choice (Heir of Chrior 1) by Cayla Kluver.

All I have to say about this one is that it sounds EPIC. A definite must read. Released January 28th 2014.

Thequeenschoice

A young fae girl sets out on a daunting quest in the human world to find the estranged son and heir to the faerie realm’s dying queen, when she is attacked by human hunters and her wings are cut off, making her return home impossible.

5. Steelheart (Reckoners 1) by Brandon Sanderson.

I love the concept of this, it sounds so interesting. It will be available September 24th 2014.

steelheart
Ten years ago, Calamity came. It was a burst in the sky that gave ordinary men and women extraordinary powers. The awed public started calling them Epics.

But Epics are no friend of man. With incredible gifts came the desire to rule. And to rule man you must crush his wills.

Nobody fights the Epics… nobody but the Reckoners. A shadowy group of ordinary humans, they spend their lives studying Epics, finding their weaknesses, and then assassinating them.

And David wants in. He wants Steelheart—the Epic who is said to be invincible. The Epic who killed David’s father. For years, like the Reckoners, David’s been studying, and planning—and he has something they need. Not an object, but an experience.

He’s seen Steelheart bleed. And he wants revenge.

So that’s my top 5 upcoming releases, though there are many, many more books I am looking for. What upcoming releases are you looking forward to?
