From the blurb:

Congratulations. You are ready to embark upon the righteous and rewarding life of a Shadowhunter. We have been chosen by the Angel to keep our world safe from the evil creatures we call “demons”. And now you are one of us, and with this book, you will learn our lore and our ways. Angels, demons, faeries, vampires, werewolves, warlocks: they all exist, and they all must be managed and kept at peace. Welcome to our ranks, and study hard. This book could be the difference between life and death.

My Thoughts:

4 out of 5 stars.

This book was so much better than I thought it was going to be. One of the most exciting things was the notes scribbled throughout it from Clary, Simon and Jace. Before I bought it, I didn’t know they were going to be in it so it was a nice surprise. It really made this book. Another thing that made this book was that it was full of drawings, and I love pictures in my books. The last pages are full of character sketches and there is even a great small poster tucked into the back.

We get to learn everything a new Shadowhunter learns. We learn about Jonathan Shadowhunter, the first Shadowhunter, and how Shadowhunter’s came into being, as well as other significant events in Shadowhunter history. There is an in depth look at Shadowhunter weapons, demons, downworlders, the Silent Brothers and the Iron Sisters.  I found it all very interesting, and if you love the world of the Shadowhunters, I’m sure you will too.

The Shadowhunter’s Codex is a must read for all Shadowhunter fans.
