A Writerly Update 60.

So it’s been a month since my last update. These updates used to be weekly and I plan on returning to updating you weekly again from now on. A few of my other regular posts have fallen behind, and I haven’t been commenting as much, which I apologise for. I pulled back from the blog a bit to get my YA Fantasy finally done. The good news? IT’S DONE. It took me longer than expected but I am so excited that I now have a query ready manuscript.

I have a lot of manuscripts at various stages, a few almost complete, but the YA Fantasy is the first I have completed to query ready stage. It feels so good to be at this stage. I’m going to send my first query on Monday. Fingers crossed.

I can’t wait to get back into working on my other manuscripts. Regular followers will know that I like to work on multiple projects at once. I had stopped juggling manuscripts to focus on the final draft of my YA Fantasy and it kind of drove me a little mad working on just one. So I’m going back to juggling while I query. At the end of last year I finished the first draft of a MG fantasy, so I’ll pull that out now that it’s rested and start the second draft. I’ve also got a couple of manuscripts that are in first draft stage so I’ll pick one of those and keep going with it. I much prefer writing one manuscript while editing another.
And now the YA Fantasy is out of the way I can go back to regularly posting The Amberly Chronicles. I’m actually having a lot of fun with it and can’t wait to share the next episode with you.

I need to sit down tomorrow and write up some firm goals for March/April, maybe even May. I work more efficiently if I have clear goals to work towards.

That’s it for me. How is your writing going? Any one currently in the query trenches or about to jump in?
I’d love to hear from you.

Happy Writing ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. That’s great to hear you’re query ready! ๐Ÿ˜€

I don’t know how you juggle more than one WIP. I get it though, because I would if I could. I’ve ALWAYS got different ideas floating around in my head, but I just have to write them down and ignore them for a while.

Do keep us posted on the query journey!!! x

    1. It’s easy for me to juggle because I have the time to do it. I only work two days a week, and my kids are school, so I write mainly during school hours. If I had to work full time there is no way I’d be able to juggle.
And I’ll be sure to keep you posted on the query journey.

  2. Glad to hear from someone who makes plans. I do this too, but they are more like a checklist. Today, I’m waiting to hear from Amazon to see if my newest book baby passed through their meat grinder.

  3. My epic fantasy isn’t quite query-worthy yet. Just over a quarter into the latest revisions, though, and I’m hoping by the time I have my next stretch of leave (requested, but not approved yet), that I’ll be ready to start. It’s a scary place to be, but an exciting one too. Just thinking about it gives me butterfies in the gut.
I’m glad you’re getting back to more frequent updates. It’s lovely to see how others are doing.
