Review: I knew You Were Trouble By Paige Toon.

I knew you were trouble

Publisher: Simon & Schuster Australia.

Source: From publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Synopsis:

Life as the undercover daughter of a rock god isn’t going to be easy. How will Jessie adjust to her old boring life again after spending her summer living it up with her dad in LA? With tough decisions ahead (and not just choosing between two hot boys), can she cope juggling her two very different lives?
Summer may be over, but Jessie’s story is just beginning…

My Thoughts:

When I started reading I Knew You Were Trouble, I didn’t realise it was the second book in the series, and I felt like I was missing a lot reading this without having read the first, especially when it came to the love triangle.

Saying that, It can be read independently. Everything was explained well, so I was caught up, but I feel I would have been more torn about the love triangle if I had read the first book first.

Overall I did enjoy it though.

Finding out you’re a rock star’s long lost daughter would be almost any girl’s dream, and it seems to be Jessie’s – until everyone finds out and there are paparazzi everywhere, and she has to be escorted by a security guard wherever she goes. Jessie is back home in England in this book, so the attention on her is intense. She has also just started a new relationship and having the world watch her every move puts a strain on that.

Jessie’s dad decides to take her back to L.A until things settle down. Johnny was so cool. He was a great dad and really cared about Jessie and I loved the relationship that was developing between them.

There is not just the paparazzi waiting for her in L.A, but the boy she left behind when she returned to England is there too. Life is spiraling out of control for Jessie, and she has to figure out who she is, who her heart wants and where she belongs.

I Knew You Were Trouble was a fun, funny, light-hearted read, perfect for those contemporary readers looking for a bit of escapism.

  1. I’ve just come across this author, so I’m gonna have to track some of her books down soon. I’m not sure they’re here in the US, but I’ll check. I’ve been reading great things about her books. Great review!
